Programming

WebSuite and the FGL programming environment provide powerful resources for the creation of dynamic web content and advanced web-based applications. These are created through the use of Active Pages, integrated standalone applications, and binary libraries.

WebSuite combines a number of disparate technologies in a single optimized environment. These include: Active Pages, integrated programming language, built-in database, security, just-in-time compiler (JIT), Active Page cache, e-commerce functionality, and advanced application delivery components. See the FGL programming documentation for specific details in utilizing these features.

ACTIVE PAGES provide a vehicle for combining HTML, Java, JavaScript, and FGL in the creation of dynamic content delivery and advanced web-based application development. For additional information regarding Active Pages, see the corresponding section within this guide.

The INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE contained with the WebSuite and FGL environment can be combined with existing HTML, Java, and JavaScript technologies. See the FGL documentation contained within the West Coast Web Adventures website for additional information.

WebSuite's BUILT-IN DATABASE provides for high-speed relational and object data storage and administration. Additionally, low-level file access and manipulation is available.

A number of SECURITY options are available programmatically. See the accompanying security section for additional information.

The JUST-IN-TIME COMPILER enhances dynamic content delivery and program integration. This provides high-speed performance for even complex applications. This works in conjunction with the ACTIVE PAGE cache, which optimizes Active Pages.

E-COMMERCE functions are included that provide for user authentication and credit card validation.

Applications created for distribution with the programming features of WebSuite and FGL can be distributed free of charge. Additionally, source code can be hidden from the end-user by utilizing the FGL compiler, binary librarian, and the apCreateCompiledFile() function.
